CULTURAL ROUTE OF BEĆARAC AND GANGA
For hundreds of years, these distinctive regions have created wonderful and colorful cultures colored by folk customs and music — specifically by ganga and bećarac. Cultural routes across Europe create value and help affirm the traditions centuries old, they create and network regions and landscapes, strengthen identities and encourage the sustainable development and well-being of a local community. Both bećarac and ganga belong to a series of European traditional songs inscribed in UNESCO’s list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity. It is a legacy that is inherited and passed from generation to generation. The first is from Tomislavgrad, the other from Pleternica, and together they are connected to the Cultural route of Bećarac and Ganga.
This monograph tells the story of two towns, two cultures and two countries intertwined through Croatian heritage and identity, connected by culture and tradition and translated into a colorful depiction of image and text, bound into a hardcover that questions what is a front and back page.
